ERASERHOOD FOREVER 2014. David Lynch in Art at PhilaMOCAOpening reception: Friday, September 5, 2014 at 6:00 PM PhilaMOCA is hosting the third installment of the critically-acclaimed ERASERHOOD FOREVER exhibit – an artistic celebration of the work of David Lynch. It is being held in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art’s upcoming retrospective on the work of David Lynch. The opening reception will be held on Friday, September 5 from 6:00 – 10:00 PM. The exhibit will close on Saturday, September 27 with the ERASERHOOD FOREVER entertainment extravaganza featuring Lynch-themed musicians, comedians, burlesque, and surprises!
David Lynch programming is in conjunction with David Lynch: The Unified Field at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), the first major U.S. museum exhibition of PAFA alumnus David Lynch, on view September 13, 2014 to January 11, 2015. Organized in close collaboration with the artist, the exhibition features over 80 paintings and drawings from all periods of Lynch’s career. It includes rarely-seen early work from Lynch’s time in Philadelphia (1965-70), a critical period in his creative development. Bridgette Mayer Gallery Holds Benefit Exhibition Supporting Philadelphia Dance Company BalletX: Exhibition will be on view September 5th – October 4th, 2014 with an opening reception Friday, September 5th, 5 – 8 PM.
The Bridgette Mayer Gallery is pleased to announce the fourth annual Benefit Exhibition – this year to once again benefit BalletX, Philadelphia’s premier contemporary ballet. More than 220 artists have been selected to create 400 paintings, photographs, collages, and sculptures for the exhibition which will run from September 5th through October 9th, 2014. Each artist is working with one or two ten inch square panels generously donated by Ampersand Art Supply. Philadelphia, national, and international artists from every point in their career—from recent MFA graduates to established artists included in prominent museum collections – will exhibit side by side in the gallery. Each work will be sold for $500, $1,000, $1,500 or $2,000 with 20% of the proceeds benefitting BalletX. .
Last year’s benefit raised an impressive $17,000 for BalletX, which helped support the creation of three world premiere commissions for the company’s Fall Series 2013. During this year’s exhibition as part of the Neighborhood Fringe Festival, BalletX dancers will perform intimate improvisational solos in the gallery space inspired by the artwork on display. Performances will take place:
o Tuesday, September 9th at 7PM
o Friday, September 12th at 7PM
o Sunday, September 14th at 1PM
